End of August and the beginning of September is my favorite time to photograph beach family sessions! The sunsets are magical, the crowds less prominent as the new school year begins. And although this year may prove to be otherwise, late summer tends to have less rainy days, making it easier to schedule your photos and stick to the date.
One of the other reasons that I prefer to photograph families on the beach toward the end of summer and the beginning of Fall is the timing. My favorite time to photograph families is during the “golden hour.” This is the last hour before sunset. In July and even early August the golden hour is late – making it hard to get great smiles out of tired little ones. September is a wonderful alternative with sessions that start closer to 6pm.
Early Fall the temperatures also start to drop off so you are not chasing a toddler in 80 degree temperatures. And while I love a nice warm day at the beach, no one wants to feel hot during their photo session.
