It was such an honor to photograph this sweet baby boy. Since he was born in the year of the rabbit, we incorporated some rabbit stuffies into his newborn photoshoot.
One of the questions that I frequently get asked is “what is the best time to photograph a newborn baby”? My standard answer is between 5-15 days after the baby is born. However, there are a lot of caveats to that answer!
The standard 5-15 days is driven by the fact that newborn babies are sleepiest and most easy to pose within the first couple weeks after birth. They are still super malleable and love the warm, cozy environment we create for them in the studio. Another reason is that things like baby acne or wakeful periods or growth spurts usually happen after the first couple of weeks.
That being said, it is never too late to capture your baby! Each baby is unique and follow their own flow. This baby boy was 3.5 weeks old on the day of our photoshoot and he was absolutely fantastic and super easy to pose.
One of the things that I always try to talk to new parents about is the fact that I will always work with the baby and never against them. I will go with the baby’s flow and never force them to do anything they seem uncomfortable doing. If they need extra snuggles, they get extra snuggles. If they need an extra feed, we will give them an extra feed. If they’re super uncomfortable in any setup or pose, we skip it and move right along. There are 2 goals for every session: keep the baby happy and comfortable and capture their sweet babyhood.

The studio is stocked with bonnets, wraps, headbands, and gorgeous layers. Forgot diapers or wipes? No worries, we’ve got those too. you don’t need to bring a thing unless you want to.
Safety and comfort of the baby is always the number one priority. I am up to date with all latest required vaccines and take extreme care to keep the space clean and germ-free. While I will have a workflow planned to guide your baby through a variety of poses with the least amount of disturbance, I will also take cues from the baby when they need a break for an extra snuggle or a feeding.
