Sometimes it is important to take a break and offer the baby some food – full bellies tend to lead to better sleep.
Other times a little extra snuggle is what it takes.
I tend to take my queues from the baby and will adjust my flow depending on each baby and how they are feeling. Some babies do amazing being wrapped up and will fall asleep soundly. While others don’t mind being awake and happy. Sometimes we switch things around and take the family photos first to help the baby feel more secure and cozy as they fall asleep. Other babies prefer to settle on their own.
At the end of the day, even the most awake babies give up. It may not last too long and I will maximize that window to capture as much variety as possible while keeping the baby sleepy and secure.
But you know what else I absolutely adore? Those wide awake silly baby faces. Even if babies don’t sleep during newborn photography session.
