As a CT Maternity photographer I receive a lot of inquiries about maternity photography sessions. Many moms-to-be are choosing to capture this amazing and magical time in their lives. Here are the Top 5 Questions I receive about maternity sessions.

When should my maternity session be scheduled?

My most asked question! I like to suggest booking in your first or second trimester, that way you have your pick of dates available. Depending on the time of year, the calendar can fill up quickly! The photo session is usually done around 30-36 weeks.
2 .Where does my maternity session take place?
Depending on the time of year, I have a variety of locations I can suggest, ranging from rustic barns to gorgeous beaches. If you are worried about weather, we can always do the session in my private studio in Madison, CT.
3. What do I need to bring?
The simple answer to this one is nothing. I have everything you’ll need to make your session amazing – from gorgeous gowns in the studio that you can borrow to quilts and throws. If you have props you want to include, by all means bring them! Maybe some cute baby items you already have, or a family heirloom that is important to you. Even if you aren’t sure what you want included, bring it to the session and we can decide then.
4. What should I wear?
Before your session, I will send you a style guide with suggestions for wardrobe selection. This guide includes everything from how to style your entire family to where I shop. You are also welcome to browse the selection of beautiful dresses I have in my studio. My general recommendation is to choose two looks – one casual that reflects your day to day style and one more formal, such as a beautiful dress that shows off your bump or one of the many gorgeous gowns I have in studio.
5. How long does the maternity session last?
30 -60 minutes, which can include up to three looks. Honestly, this depends on you and your family. Have little kids with short attention spans or expecting your first? We’ll keep the session short – no need to push anyone past their limits. However, if you wanted to incorporate two locations nearby or working with kids that are a bit shy at first and need time to warm up? No problem! Let’s spend some time playing games, roaming around, and take the pressure off the little ones.
