You’ve booked your family session, picked a date and location. Now what? You want this to go as smoothly as possibly. While still getting some amazing new family photos. Here are some tips for families before their photo session
- Choose clothing carefully- Plan out your coordinated outfits ahead of time. Ask your photographer if they have a style guide they can send you to help with this! Booked your session with me? I got you covered – from style guides to stores I usually shop at to options in studio that you could borrow. Let me take some of the stress off your hands.
- Think of your family photoshoot as a fun family activity- The best photos are often the natural, candid ones. So it’s important for your family to have fun during the session. I’ll be there to guide you into both posed smiling poses and candid moments. We’ll play tag or give piggyback rides. The best most authentic smiles occur during fun activities. The kids below loved playing a game with the blanket on the beach and mom and dad love having this gorgeous playful moment captured.
- Make sure everyone is fed and well rested- Nothing like tired and hungry kiddos. So, pick a time of day that ensures everyone is rested. Plus, have snacks and water on hand for the last minute “I’m hungry!”.
- Leave the “cheese” at home- Cheese is for crackers….seriously. Let your photographer naturally interact with your family to try and bring out their smiles. Demanding they smile can make them stressed out. Therefore, keep it light! I like to think of myself as a comedian-in-training! Just look at those beautiful smiles.
