New Haven County Newborn Photographer | Madison CT Studio
Finding the right newborn photographer can feel like one more thing on a very long pre-baby checklist.
There are cribs to assemble, hospital bags to pack, names to agree on, and approximately 47 tiny clothing items to wash and fold.
And somewhere in there, you’re also trying to figure out who you trust to photograph your brand-new baby.
My newborn photography studio is located in Madison, Connecticut, right here in New Haven County, and is designed to make the entire experience feel calm, organized, and as easy as possible for new parents.
Because by the time your baby arrives, you should not have to stress about what to bring, what to wear, or whether your baby will “cooperate.”
Spoiler: babies do what babies do. We plan around that.

A Newborn Photography Studio Designed for New Parents
Newborn sessions are different from regular portrait sessions.
They require more time, more patience, and a space that is set up specifically for tiny babies and tired parents.
At my Madison, CT studio, everything is prepared before you arrive. Wraps, blankets, props, headbands, bonnets, and baby outfits are all ready to go. The studio is warm, comfortable, and stocked with the things we need to create a smooth session.
You do not need to bring a pile of outfits or try to guess what will photograph well.
You bring the baby. I’ll handle the rest.

A Calm, Baby-Led Newborn Session
One of the most common things parents worry about before a newborn session is whether their baby will sleep.
The honest answer? Maybe. Maybe not.
Some babies sleep the whole time. Some need extra feeding breaks. Some are wide awake and very interested in the whole production.
That is all normal.
My sessions are baby-led, which means we follow your baby’s cues instead of forcing a rigid session plan. If your baby needs to eat, we pause. If they need to be soothed, we take the time. If they are happiest wrapped, we lean into that.
The goal is not to rush your baby through a checklist.
The goal is to create beautiful, timeless newborn images while keeping your baby comfortable and safe.

Posed Newborn Photos, Family Photos, and Sibling Photos
Newborn sessions can include a mix of baby-only images, parent photos, sibling photos, and family portraits depending on the session you choose.
Some families want a simple wrapped session focused mostly on the baby. Others want the full experience with sleepy newborn poses, tiny details, parent snuggles, and sibling images.
Both are great options.
For many families, the parent and sibling photos become some of the most meaningful images from the session. Your baby will never be this small again, and those early family portraits have a way of becoming more valuable with time.
Even if you feel tired. Even if your toddler is acting like a toddler. Even if you are not sure you want to be in the photos.
You should be in a few.
I say that with love and years of experience photographing newly expanded families.

Serving Families Throughout New Haven County
My newborn studio is located in Madison, CT, which makes it an easy drive for families throughout New Haven County and the surrounding Connecticut shoreline.
I often photograph families from:
- Madison
- Guilford
- Branford
- North Branford
- East Haven
- New Haven
- North Haven
- Wallingford
- Cheshire
- Hamden
- Milford
- Orange
- West Haven
- Clinton
- Killingworth
- Old Saybrook
- Westbrook
Many families choose a studio session because they do not have to prepare their home, clean up the nursery, or worry about where the best light is.
Especially in those early newborn days, leaving the house can actually feel easier when you are coming to a studio that is already set up for you.

What Makes a Studio Newborn Session Easier?
A professional newborn studio takes a lot of pressure off parents.
You do not have to wonder:
- What should the baby wear?
- Do I need to bring props?
- What if my house is too dark?
- What if the baby needs to eat?
- What if my toddler won’t sit still?
- What if I have no idea what I’m doing because I had a baby five days ago?
All fair questions.
The studio is designed for this exact season. We keep the session calm, flexible, and comfortable. I guide you through the process, pose the baby safely, help with parent and sibling images, and make sure everything feels manageable.
It is not about pretending the newborn stage is perfectly calm.
It is about creating a calm experience in the middle of a very full season.

When Should You Book a Newborn Photographer?
I recommend booking your newborn photographer during your second trimester when possible.
Since babies rarely arrive exactly on their due date, I reserve space around your due date. Once your baby arrives, we choose the actual session date.
Most newborn sessions take place within the first couple of weeks after birth, when babies are still extra sleepy and curled up. That said, if your baby is already here, please do not assume you missed your chance.
Older newborns can still be photographed beautifully. The session may look a little different, but different does not mean less special.

How to Choose the Right Newborn Photographer in New Haven County
When you are comparing newborn photographers, look beyond location alone.
A photographer may be close by, but you also want to make sure their style, experience, and process are the right fit for your family.
Here are a few things to look for:
- a consistent editing style
- experience safely posing newborns
- clear communication before booking
- a calm and organized session process
- options for parent and sibling photos
- a studio or session setup that feels comfortable
- guidance on what to wear and how to prepare
- images that feel timeless, not overly trendy
Newborn photography is personal. You are trusting someone with your brand-new baby during one of the most tender and sleep-deprived seasons of your life.
Choose someone whose work you love and whose process makes you feel confident.
