Twin newborn sessions are some of my favorite sessions! There is something genuinely magical about photographing two (or more!) babies together — the way they instinctively settle when they’re close to each other, the bond that’s already there from their very first days. I never get tired of it.
If you’re expecting twins and wondering whether a newborn session is even realistic, the answer is yes — and it usually goes more smoothly than parents expect.

How a twin session actually works
The experience in the studio is the same as any other newborn session. You come in, you relax, and I take care of everything. I always have an assistant with me for twin sessions to ensure we have experienced hands available at all times — for safety, for comfort, and honestly so parents can actually sit down and breathe for a few hours. With twins at home that’s probably not something you’re getting a lot of.
We photograph the babies separately and together. If one baby is fussing or needs to eat, we work with the other one and then swap. It sounds like it would be chaotic but it almost never is. In fact, twin sessions often run smoother than singleton sessions because of this natural rhythm — there’s always something productive we can be doing.
And there’s no extra charge for twins. You’ve already bought two of everything.

A note on timing
Many twins arrive early, which means the typical advice about booking your newborn session in the first two weeks doesn’t always apply. We will wait until both babies are over five pounds and safely home and healthy before scheduling the session. And don’t worry – we will still get those curly sweet posed newborn poses.

The moment that gets me every time
When twin babies are both a little unsettled, I wrap them and place them next to each other. Almost every single time, they calm down immediately. They’ve spent months together — being close to each other is the most familiar, comforting thing in the world to them. Watching that happen in the studio never gets old.
