Hey there, expecting parents! If you’re considering booking a newborn photography session with me here in Madison, CT, you might be wondering, “How long do these sessions typically last?” Well, let me give you the lowdown on what to expect when you step into my studio.
Newborn photography sessions are a special time to capture those fleeting moments of your baby’s earliest days. From tiny fingers to delicate features, these sessions are all about preserving those precious memories for years to come. But just how long can you expect to spend in front of the camera?
The duration of newborn photography sessions can vary widely, typically ranging from 45 minutes to 3.5 hours. Yep, you read that right—it’s quite a range! But fear not, I’ll break it down for you.
First up, we have newborn swaddled sessions, also known as mini sessions. These sessions are perfect for capturing those adorable images of your baby all snug and cozy. Lasting around 45 to 60 minutes, these sessions focus on poses where your little one is swaddled for the majority, if not all, of the time. With minimal outfit changes and smooth transitions from pose to pose, we can capture those sweet moments efficiently and effectively.

Next, we have signature sessions, which include swaddled poses as well as naked baby poses, family poses, and sibling poses. These sessions typically last from 1.5 to 2.5 hours, though they can sometimes extend beyond that timeframe. Why the variation? Well, it all comes down to the unique dynamics of your family and the cooperation of everyone involved.
During signature sessions, we’ll take our time to create a variety of poses and setups, including shots with siblings and parents. This means we may need a little extra time to soothe an unwrapped baby, encourage cooperation from siblings, or perfect those transitions between poses. But trust me, the results are worth it.

Whether it’s a quick mini session or a more comprehensive signature session, my goal remains the same: to capture beautiful, timeless images that you’ll cherish for a lifetime.
