I love celebrating 1st birthdays with an outdoor photoshoot! It’s a great alternative to a Smashcake photoshoot or a studio Milestone photo session.
Listen, I love love love a good balloon garland and some adorable props as a backdrop for a cake smash. I also love the sweet snuggles we get in the studio, especially if the weather does not cooperate. But there is something about being outside that really makes me happy.
ps – my husband does not love the balloon garlands as much as I do since he is often the one blowing up all the balloons lol.
Check out a couple recent 1st birthday sessions at a farm in Madison CT. One family opted to just capture some milestone images as well as family portraits. The other family wanted to include a little smashcake along with the siblings! Both are gorgeous. There just is not wrong way to celebrate this precious milestone.
