Family Photos with 4 Month Old Twins in Connecticut

There is something extra sweet about photographing twins.

Two babies, two personalities, two sets of expressions, and usually two very busy parents who deserve a few beautiful photos with everyone in the frame.

This family originally hoped to schedule newborn photos when their twins were first born, but life had other plans. By the time we were able to get their session on the calendar, the babies were around four months old.

And honestly? Four months is such a good age for family photos.

At four months old, babies are more alert, more expressive, and starting to show those little personalities that parents know so well. They may not be sitting independently yet, and they usually still need plenty of support, but that gives us a chance to capture a lot of sweet connection: babies in parents’ arms, snuggles, little smiles, tiny details, and the beautiful chaos of this stage.

For twins, a four month milestone session can be especially meaningful. The newborn stage can pass in a blur, and with multiples, those early months are often more survival mode than anything else. A family session at this age gives parents a chance to pause and document what life looks like now.

For this session, we focused on a mix of family portraits and baby milestone photos. With young babies, I always keep the session flexible. We follow their cues, take breaks when needed, and work through simple poses that feel natural and safe.

The goal is not perfection. The goal is connection.

With twins, that might mean one baby looking at the camera while the other is snuggled into mom. It might mean individual portraits of each baby, a few images of them together, and family photos where everyone is simply wrapped up in each other.

Those are usually the images parents love most anyway.

Family photos with babies do not need to wait until everyone is sitting, walking, or perfectly cooperative. Every stage has something worth remembering. Four months brings bright eyes, little rolls, gummy smiles, and that sweet in-between stage where they are no longer brand new, but still so very little.

If you missed the newborn photo window, this is your reminder that you did not miss your chance.

A milestone session with your baby, or babies, can be done at any age. Whether your little one is four months, six months, nine months, or turning one, there is always a way to create meaningful family photos around the stage you are in right now.

If you are looking for family photography in Connecticut or baby milestone photos near Madison, CT, I would love to help you plan a session that feels relaxed, simple, and true to your family.

Family Photos with Babies FAQ

Can you photograph twins at a milestone session?

Of course! Twin milestone sessions can include photos of both babies together, individual portraits of each baby, parent photos, sibling photos and full family images.

What if we missed newborn photos?

You can still schedule baby photos after the newborn stage. The sessions may look different than a sleepy newborn session, but four month old babies photograph beautifully in a more natural, connected way.

Are family photos included in baby milestone sessions?

They can be! Many families choose to include parents and siblings during baby milestone sessions, expecially during the first year when babies are changing so quickly.
