Congrats! You are pregnant with your sweet little nugget and you have started planning and nesting. You have gone and also booked your newborn photo session. After the excitement of the birth of your baby wears off, you start thinking and worrying about your upcoming shoot. You are not alone…..here are 3 Things All Moms Worry about Before Their Newborn Session. (And what will help to calm your fears!)
1. What should he or she wear?
Some moms have a very strong idea about what they want their child to wear, and other’s have no clue. One of the things I do before every photo session is to send a questionnaire to the family to gather as much info as I can to best assist you ahead of your newborn photography session. Maybe you have a color in mind, but not sure what else. This is where I come in. My studio is FULL of props and outfits. From wraps and blankets, to hats and headbands. All in a variety of styles and colors. I will work with you to give you stylized advice to best suite YOU and your newborn.
2. What if they cry and fuss during the session?
Ok….first off, your newborn is A BABY. Of course they will cry, and maybe fuss. It’s to be expected. But having worked with many many newborns in my career, I have found the little tricks of the trade to settle those little babies long enough to get some amazing photos. That is why my sessions are never quick. It takes time to set up each shot, get the baby comfortable and make sure they are safe as well. I also encourage Mom to feed the baby often the morning of the shot, and keep them a bit more awake, which will ensure a longer, deeper sleep while at the studio. I keep the temperature warm in the studio, as well a LOTS of white noise to keep the environment conducive for sleep. My job is to make your newborn (and you!) as comfortable as possible.
3. Should I be in the photos?
Let me answer this one for you……..YES! A million times YES. I HIGHLY encourage moms to get in the photos and capture life’s little moments. I understand many moms don’t feel their best postpartum. But I will help you make the most of these photos and capture the amazing glow that new moms get! And let’s face it, once the baby comes, getting pictures of yourself follow lower and lower on the priority list. Let me capture these moments with your precious one that you will have forever. Still don’t love your photos? No worries, you don’t have to choose any photos you don’t love.
