I absolutely love incorporating siblings into newborn photography sessions. There is nothing like seeing all of your babies in one frame. However, as you can imagine this is not always an easy task.
As a family portrait photographer who specializes in newborns and families with young children, I have a lot of experience working with little kids. I love to interact with them on their level based on their personalities.
Here are a few ways that you can incorporate siblings in newborn photography sessions.
Family photographs:
Including the entire family in one photo is one of my main goals! I love being able to capture not only everyone smiling at the camera but interactions among family members or with the new baby.
Sibling photographs together:
Placing a baby in a bucket and including the siblings is one of the easiest ways to have everyone together and safe. For older siblings, I’ll have the baby wrapped and held by big brother or sister.
Individual sibling shots:
If everyone is still behaving, I’ll try to shoot each big brother or sister with their new sibling. These create amazing memories for the siblings to look back on.
Siblings loving on baby:
Siblings kissing the baby, or even just looking or hugging the baby is too cute not to capture.
Big brother or sister on their own:
I love to capture the siblings on their own as well! After all, they’re already dressed up and ready to go!
