Wondering how to prepare to get the best newborn photos in CT? Read the tips below from an experienced newborn photographer.
With over 6 years photographing hundreds of newborn babies, I have the following tips for expecting and new parents that will help them prepare for their newborn photos in CT.
- Keep the baby awake prior to the session. Most newborn photography sessions are scheduled for mornings to get the best newborn photos. If the baby is bathed in the morning, he or she will stay alert prior to the session and fall into deep, comfy sleep during their newborn session. Sessions are schedule for 9/10am in order to get the sleepiest poses.
- Feed the baby often before heading to the studio for your newborn photos. This will fill up the baby’s belly for longer and deeper sleep. If you’re near Madison CT and your drive is short, your last feeding should be right before you leave. However, if you’re further away in CT, you will feed the baby once more upon arrival to make sure they’re full and happy during their photos.
- Dress the baby in an outfit that’s easy to remove. Since you’ve worked so hard to get the baby nice and sleepy, it’s best to keep disturbances to a minimum. Loosely fitted diapers and outfits (the new magnet onesies are the best!) are easier to remove without waking the baby.
- Bring extra clothes for you! Poo and pee happen (often) during a newborn session. It’s best to be prepared.
- Dress in layers. The studio is heated to 80 degrees and it’s best to have a change of clothes or layers that will allow you to stay cool.
