A few weeks back I participated in a photography shootout in Milford, CT. It’s a gathering of fellow newborn, children and family photographers and a few models where everyone participates in the photography session. At first I felt a bit overwhelmed watching as other photographers gave direction and jumped in front of each others’ (and my) lens. But with models as cute and gorgeous as these it was hard to stay away and I quickly got my groove.
What a wonderful experience this was! Watching as other photographers got their shots, timing the sunset. And one of my favorite parts was seeing everyone’s images at the end. While we are all similar in some ways, the edits, the shooting style, the way we pose the models is so different. It’s amazing to see how different everyone sees the same moment.
I’m not sure how many of you know, but I am part of the NAPCP, which is a National Association of Professional Child Photographers. This membership is approved based on skill set and ability to not only show the same results each time, but on the professionalism with which the business is run. I feel incredibly lucky to be part of this wonderful association and can’t wait to participate in more of my local events.
