Isaiah, ever so lovingly referred to as Big Buddha by his family, turned 1 recently! It did take us a bit to get the photos that I know mom wanted for her baby’s first birthday smashcake but it’s all totally worth it in the end.
This momentous occasion, the end of being a tiny baby and entering toddlerhood is even more important to this family than most that I meet. This 1 year mark also marked a year from mom finding out that she had breast cancer almost immediately following her son’s birth. To feel such a high and a low of emotions is something I cannot even begin to understand but this family seems to have been able to smile through it all. Not to be defeated, mom went through chemo and is back to running 6-10 miles each day. It is such an incredible honor to be chosen to continue to document their family’s growth as they are truly a magnificent example of strength, family, and happiness in the face of life’s challenges.
As for Big Buddha? Well, he’s as big, strong, and opinionated as he should be 🙂
