Although it’s still near 80 degrees during the day, you can start to feel the chill in the air during the early morning hours and I’ll admit that I’ve pulled out my boots! My girls have started to comment on the changing foliage and my yard is starting its annual collection of leafs. I think it’s safe to safe that it’s Fall!
And, as a photographer, that makes it our busiest season. After all, if you live in the Northeast, how could you not want to get your annual photos in those cute boots, cropped jackets and gorgeous red, orange and yellow leafs?
This year I wanted to share with you a couple of my favorite locations for Fall foliage.
Talk about beauty! This gorgeous private campus boasts a ton of foliage and there are an endless number of spots to fulfill just about any family’s background wishlist. Some of my favorite spots include a little bridge, the football field that’s surrounded by gorgeous color and afternoon sunlight, and, of course, the pond in the center.
Essex Steam Train in Essex, CT
Weather you’re looking to add a little theme to your session or have kids that love trains, the Essex Steam Trains in CT are a gorgeous location for your family’s fall photography! I love the little spots in the back, as well as all the colorful trains. My only advice when scheduling your session is make sure that it is not during a major event! This location becomes very popular during the winter season as they begin their annual Santa train ride! Never heard of it? I urge you to check it out – the tickets are usually sold within minutes of going live.
Want a little more of a farm feel to your session? Check out Dudley Farm in Guilford. The kids will love their turkeys and flowers, while the parents adore the way the barns, rolling hills, and classic CT stone walls decorate their pictures. Bonus? There are some hiking trails and lots of leafs for the little ones to play with!
