The “ideal” age for a posed newborn photography session is between 5-15 days. This age is considered to be ideal because the babies are still super curly and sleepy, allowing for those adorable curled up newborn poses. However, if your baby is older than the recommended age, you can still capture adorable newborn photos. While not all older newborns will allow us to pose them in same exact ways, we still manage to capture gorgeous newborn photos of sleepy poses as well as those stunning wide awake shots.
When should I book my studio newborn photographer?
You should book your studio newborn photographer during your second trimester and here’s why. Most sought-after high-end newborn photography studios will take on a limited number of sessions each month allowing for the unpredictability and flexibility needed for newborn babies. Booking your newborn photographer in your second trimester ensures that you have a spot on the photographer’s calendar and you get priority booking. If you book later or after the baby is born, you may still get on the calendar, but you may not get priority dates or the photographer may be fully booked and may not be able to fit you in during the newborn stage.
