I cannot wait to share with you this year’s Lavender Pond Farm Photography Minis in Killingworth, CT.
This unique location boasts 25 acres and over 9,000 Lavender plants, creating an absolutely breathtaking backdrop for family photos. I have been photographing at this location for 7 years and it is one of my favorite spots on the CT shoreline.
Lavender only blooms bright for a very short amount of time during the month of July, which makes this location even more special. Each year we time these sessions to maximize the color of the gorgeous Lavender blooms.
If you are interested in having your family photos done at Lavender farm in CT, here’s what you need to know.
Lavender Farm is such a unique background for your family’s photograph session in CT with beautiful purple blooms and calming nature. The farm itself has lots of unique spots for your family to enjoy including a large chess set, a beautiful gazebo, and a coup of chickens. As a Family photographer in CT I love this location for its natural light that and the vibrant colors.
When bookings your Lavender Pond session, there are a few things you should know.
- The blooms are only vibrant for a short period of time. This is usually in the first 2 weeks of July. If you are interested in family photos with Lavender, consider reaching out to your photographer early to make sure you can snag this limited spot.
- The farm is strict on availability and timing for photography. We are limited to week day or weeknight sessions if booked early enough.
- Lavender and bees go hand in hand. If you or a family member is allergic, this is not the right location for you. When visiting the Lavender Farm you’ll notice thousands and thousands of bees surrounding the flowers. These bees are crucial to the blooms and work very very hard. They’re incredibly docile and do not want to cause anyone any harm.
For the last 7 years I’ve hosted Lavender Mini Photography sessions in CT. These mini sessions are short and sweet, lasting about 15 minutes, and are booked back to back with other mini sessions. This is a great option for someone looking for a few updated family photos and don’t mind the strict timeline being followed. There is not much that you have to do to prepare – I bring all the props and book the farm ahead of time. All you need is just adorable coordinating outfits and your happy smiles.
