CT Newborn Photographer: Photographing Older Newborns

Welcoming a new addition to your family is an incredible experience, and capturing those precious moments through newborn photography is a cherished tradition. While the ideal window for newborn photography is typically between 5-15 days after birth, there’s no need to worry if life’s unpredictable timeline leads you to book a session when your baby is around 2 months old. In this blog post, we’ll explore the beauty of photographing older newborns and discuss how we can make adjustments to ensure you still get stunning and memorable images.

Cherishing the Journey

While the early days are often celebrated, capturing your baby’s growth at 2 months old allows you to freeze a moment in time that reflects their unique personality and development. These images become treasured memories of your baby’s first few months.

Prioritizing Comfort and Safety

Our top priority is always the comfort and safety of your baby during the session. As your baby becomes more aware of their surroundings, we’ll take extra care to create a calming environment, ensuring a positive experience for both the baby and the family.

Embracing the Uniqueness

Every stage of a baby’s growth is special, and older newborns bring their own unique charm to the photo session. They may be more alert, showcasing their emerging personalities and allowing us to capture genuine expressions and interactions.

Focus on Connection

One advantage of photographing older newborns is the increased likelihood of capturing heartwarming moments of connection between the baby and the family. These interactions can result in incredibly emotive and storytelling images that portray the love and joy surrounding your family.

Adjusting Poses and Expectations

As your baby grows, certain classic newborn poses may become more challenging to achieve. However, this doesn’t mean we can’t create beautiful and heartwarming images. We’ll work together to find poses that suit your baby’s comfort and showcase their individuality.

Photographing Older Newborns

In the world of newborn photography, there’s always room to capture the beauty of every stage. Embracing the opportunity to photograph older newborns opens the door to a different but equally enchanting set of moments. Don’t let the passage of time discourage you from seeking the expertise of a professional photographer. Together, we’ll create a collection of timeless images that beautifully document your baby’s journey into the world.

What to Expect During Your Newborn Session

My newborn sessions are typically held in my home studio, which is fully equipped for newborn photography. I provide everything you need for the session, including props, blankets, and backdrops.

The session itself will last about 2-3 hours, and I’ll take my time to capture a variety of poses and expressions. I’m always happy to take breaks for feeding and diaper changes, and I encourage parents to be involved in the session as much or as little as they feel comfortable.

After the Session

After your session, I will carefully edit your images and create a beautiful online gallery for you to view and share. You can then choose your favorite images to purchase as prints, digital files, or albums.

I would love to chat with you more about your newborn photography needs. Please contact me today to schedule a consultation.

In addition to newborn photography, I also offer maternity, family, and cake smash photography. I’m located in Madison, CT, but I’m happy to travel to other shoreline towns.
